Tenna is the president of Harris Insurance. She started at Harris in 1982 as a part-time file clerk by participating in a co-op student program during her college years. After graduation (A.A.S.), she was hired as a full-time customer service representative, became a fully licensed property and casualty agent, and was part of the first graduating class in the state of Kentucky to earn the Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation 1989. She also holds the Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designation as well, having completed it in 2011.  In the spring and summer of 2023, she completed the IA-MBA program, along with her brother, Jeff.  The IA-MBA is a months-long, mini-capstone masters of business administration program designed exclusively for principals of independent insurance agencies.

Tenna spent the first part of her career at Harris working in personal lines, but in 1999, she was promoted to vice president and has specialized in commercial accounts ever since. She became the first person outside of the founder’s family allowed to purchase stock in the corporation. She is also the first female president of the agency, shattering a glass ceiling and marking a milestone in the history of the agency. Tenna is also the resident baker/pastry chef of the agency.
